I have been thinking about writing a lot recently. Because I have realized with sadness that a a month has gone by without so much as a howdy-do. But as I sat on my couch this evening, I also thought that I didn’t feel like I had anything to share. Sometimes I feel exhausted from…

Hi. It’s me. I’ve been away, but okay. I’m sorry, but in May I didn’t have the energy to write anymore after work (which was usually late o’clock anyway), nor the desire to look at a computer during my free time. I also went to Barcelona.
“Famous” by Naomi Shihab Nye
The river is famous to the fish. The loud voice is famous to silence, which knew it would inherit the earth before anybody said so. The cat sleeping on the fence is famous to the birds watching him from the birdhouse. The tear is famous, briefly, to the cheek. The idea you carry close to…
4 hours and 44 miles later…
Against all odds and all logic, I biked 44 miles to work this month. *Note on the math: it took 4 hours door-to-door (Strava only captures moving time). I also started recording the route from the coffee shop and not my house, so, 44 miles :).
Bustling thoughts: the decision happened without you
It’s either clear that philosophy really affects me or that I’m a philosophical person. Something else that I always keep in mind that my philosophy professor (you sh/could add the word “design” in there somewhere, but ‘philosophy’ is more appropriate) made an offhand comment in class once that it’s difficult to actually remember the point…
Bustling thoughts: Hello again
You either think I’ve done nothing worth talking about or have been so busy that I haven’t written. It’s somewhere in between: by the time I get home to my personal computer with all my photos and such I don’t want to be on a computer at all and I should actually be sleeping. I thought…
5: Jacklynn-style mishaps
I normally feel like an awkward person (in many respects), but I especially feel like my clumsy nature shines through when I move to a new place and am put into new circumstances. I moved to San Francisco, I’m starting a new job, and meeting scads of new people. Surely, the best stage for the…
Curating the past
These are four last days of school: third grade, high school, my bachelor’s degree, and my master’s degree one week ago. As Sarah pointed out, forks are in the road and I’m traveling down them. The kind of anti-climactic moment of receiving my diploma in a confusing ceremony was finally grounded when I had to organize all…
My membership in ‘The Cult of Work’
This doodle I drew last year during finals week. I have always had a problem with overworking. I said one of my goals was to improve my work-life balance, but I’ve haven’t said much more because I think it sounds like a humblebrag. At CMU, the stress culture is expected and understood. Everyone doesn’t sleep and…
5: Men on the streets
While not the most light-hearted topic, there has something that has been weighing me down lately. And I have hemmed and hawed about writing about this because I feel like it’s not the most enjoyable subject to write about and because it’s such a prickly issue to read about. Something that people already have opinions…
