Here’s How The World’s Most Brilliant People Scheduled Their Days (via Huffington Post). I just thought this was really interesting.
DESIGN
- Illuminated Cut Paper Light Boxes by Hari & Deepti. I know this guy! I met him wall volunteering at AIGA/NY Bordo Bello.
- Visualizing Empires decline. Really interesting made with the programming language I’m learning, Processing.
- The discovering of typo/graphic posters.com. SO beautiful it makes me feel hopless.
- The Real Star Of Wes Anderson’s “The Grand Budapest Hotel”? Graphic Design. (Fast Company). Knowing this made me love the movie!
SOCIAL
- This Animated Map Will Show You How Many People Each State Has Executed Since 1977 (vi Co.Exist). Super interesting.
- 25 Fascinating Charts Of Negotiation Styles Around The World (via Business Insider). Neat visuals of how different countries breakdown.
- Calling In Late (The NY Times). Out of frustration, I sought out articles about being on time and timeliness because I was getting annoyed about how late everyone was being 🙂
- Read Parent’s Facebook Response to ‘Ridiculous’ Common Core Math Homework. Of course I don’t have kids and this is after my time, but I’ve only heard bad things about Common Core. I thought this was interesting just because I’m against anything that makes math harder.
SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY
- A Reporter at Large: The Interpreter (via The New Yorker). This utterly fascinating article (from 2007) about linguistics and this fringe cultural with completely different rules from all the 6,000 other languages.
- Cognitive Lode | Simple advice on product psychology. Really interesting social psychology tidbits.
- Larry Page: Where’s Google going next? This was such a fascinating TedTalk from Page about where he sees the future of Google (and technology) going.
- Facebook Will Use Drones and Lasers to ‘Beam’ Internet to the World (via Mashable). It’s coming. Internet as a right?
MEDIA
- 2048. Extremely simple but extremely addicting little game.
INTERACTION
- Getting started with iOs design – Mobile design (via Gibbon). This doesn’t sound as instructive as it sounds and I thought it was really helpful with pointing out some usability tips.
- The Disciplines of User Experience Design. I know this is old hat, but I found Dan Saffer’s usability map and thought it was really neat.
- What Is User Experience Design? Overview, Tools And Resources. I had a moment last month where I was freaking about about knowing everything possible about UX. So I also read: Why User Experience Cannot Be Designed.
In between all of this, I’ve been reading so many academic articles.
