New camera for new adventures

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The facts are these: I am a terrible photographer but I would like to take more pictures during the summer. I have a Canon 20D that was bequeathed to me by my father, but I found it difficult and frustrating to use and it was too big to bring anyway anyway. After a lot of research and thinking about what would practically entice me to bring a camera out more often (hipster camera, obviously) I picked out this old version of an Olympus Pen (E-P3), a high-end compact camera with interchangeable lens for $350.

It’s a beautiful day outside and decided to take him for a spin at Phipps Conservatory so I could stop taking sad (sad) pictures of my room. I mean, botanical gardens are made for people to practice taking pictures. Does a flower even exist if you’re not supposed to take pictures of them? I think not.  In retrospect, I probably shouldn’t have gone on Easter weekend, but there was no backing out once I got out the door…

I have really enjoyed taking pictures with this camera! I’m so relieved because I usually suffer buyers remorse after things like this. With very little effort, I can take pretty decent pictures and it encourages me to fiddle around with the different modes. I don’t need or want to be hired to take your senior picture, I just want to upload a my pictures for once and not be frustrated that they’re all blurry and weirdly colored.

What do you think?

It wasn’t just flowers either. There was a super talented marimba player from CMU who was performing. I stayed for 4 of her songs:

They had this fun train set in the middle of the room which they change with each season (on diorama mode):

This one reminded me of Dan since he’s raising bees right now:
